For quite some time I have contemplated this step. And finally, I am here. Like many others, I pondered long about a suitable name – and there is a story behind it. I grew up with a tradition around drinking coffee. And also visiting family/friends on farms in South Africa. And two times of the day was enshrouded in something “sacred”. Very early in the morning and similar in the afternoon, arriving back from a day’s work. In both instances, the aroma of ground coffee in the fire charred coffee pot (held in a sewn cotton bag hanging in the middle of the pot) on the coal-fired stove/fire would be inviting. Even more so when one had to sleep out/camping. The experience got better if there was a shady place at a waterhole to defend one from the harsh African sun. This is similar to Australia where I now live. But it was not only drinking the coffee. It provided the opportunity to think about the day. reflecting on what is going to happen or how the day was (when at the end of a day). Reflecting/meditating with a coffee was natural. A wonderful experience because of the whole culture around it.
It was not only sipping away at the coffee …… It was the time of the day when one could reflect, write, plan, be quiet and meditate/pray. Alternatively, listening to nature’s symphony changing from night to day or vice versa. Drinking coffee was the pathway to something much more. While I am much less on farms now, this ritual has remained. This is what this blog is about. Enjoying various “coffees” while pondering/sharing/ discussing items of value. This blog wants to provide for some reflections while having these coffees. Any like-minded people, who have this tradition, is welcome to have a look at my blog. Please have a look at “About Us” as well for further explanation. The purpose here-of will be:
- Shorter meditational items of inspiration, support, and encouragement.
- Sometimes it will be “instantaneous” designed for the busy hour on way to work, or being on the train getting to work.
- Other times it will be “plunger” – the real stuff. Ground coffee has a specific aroma. My hope is that I at some stages will share some more detailed items of life’s journey.
- This page is not about critiquing current political events. There are enough of that in this world.
- At stages, I will reference positive events that I become aware of here.
- If you do have something which you feel of it can be of value and and it is within the context of this blog, feel free to contact me. It will definitely be considered and acknowledging you as authorship.
In all instances my hope will be that you, the reader, may find something of value.
